Code of Conduct – Wargaming Bucharest Association

Welcome to Wargaming Bucharest! This is the local community dedicated to the passion for tabletop strategy games.

We want each match and session to be a positive experience where all players enjoy themselves and want to play together again.

This Code of Conduct sets out our values and basic rules to maintain a respectful, friendly, and fair-play environment.

Community Values

1. Mutual Respect

  • Treat others the way you would like to be treated.
  • Avoid offensive comments, aggressive language, or destructive attitudes.
  • Discuss differences of opinion calmly and in good faith.
  • Maintain an appropriate tone and volume of speech.

2. Fair-play and Game Spirit

  • A successful game is one where all participants have fun and want to play together again.
  • Be honest in applying the rules and provide your opponent with a fair and pleasant experience.
  • Discuss any misunderstandings with patience, curiosity, and openness.
  • Do not make offensive comments, use aggressive language, or exhibit destructive or disruptive behavior.

3. Acknowledging Others’ Time and Effort

  • The game systems practiced here require a significant investment of time, money, and effort from club members – respect their efforts as they will respect yours.
  • Come prepared and on time to sessions and matches.
  • Notify in advance if you are late or unable to attend.
  • Avoid discussions and behaviors that unnecessarily distract or slow down the game.

4. Care for Club Space and Materials

  • Use the space and materials with care.
  • Tidy and organize the game area after each session.
  • Be mindful of miniatures, dice, terrain, and other materials – both yours and others’.
  • Do not touch someone else’s models without their permission.

5. Responsibility and Conflict Resolution

  • Resolve conflicts maturely and reasonably.
  • If mediation is needed, all parties will share equal responsibility unless stated otherwise.
  • Exceptional cases will be reviewed individually.

Basic Rules

  1. Don’t be toxic. Respect is mandatory – no hostility, insults, or provocation.
  2. Zero tolerance for discrimination. Racism, misogyny, homophobia, extremism, or hate speech are strictly prohibited.
  3. Do not touch other people’s models without permission.
  4. No threats or aggression. Physical or verbal threats are serious and may lead to exclusion.
  5. No fighting. Debate is welcome, but step back if things escalate.
  6. Avoid political or religious debates. They are unnecessary and potentially divisive.
  7. Respect shared space and materials. Be careful with miniatures, tables, books, and resources.
  8. Maintain personal hygiene. Shower, wear clean clothes, and use deodorant. Deodorant is not a substitute for washing.

Conduct During a Game

A tabletop game is immersive and requires focus.

When 2 or more players are engaged (physically or on Discord/livestream):

  • If you’re not allowed to watch, don’t insist. Leave.
  • If allowed to stay:
  • Do not interrupt unless addressed.
  • If asked to leave by a player, do so respectfully. The only exceptions:
    • Referees during tournaments
    • Coaches during practice games

Disciplinary Measures

Rule violations may result in:

  • Warning (for minor issues)
  • Temporary suspension (for repeated or serious breaches)
  • Permanent exclusion (for serious or repeated offenses; we use a 3-strike rule)

The founders reserve the right to apply judgment based on context to protect the community.

Respect for Club Property

  • Unintentional damage must be repaired/replaced by those responsible.
  • Intentional damage results in immediate expulsion and liability for costs. Authorities may be notified.
  • Unauthorized removal of club property also results in immediate expulsion, replacement, and possible legal consequences.
  • Members must keep the club space clean.

Conflict Mediation

  • If members cannot resolve a conflict, a mediation panel of at least 2 founders will intervene.
  • Decisions may involve the removal of BOTH PARTIES involved in the dispute.
